Hazelnut with insect hole

I picked this up because of the striking perfection of round hole, which must have been bored by an insect. I started looking for other things with deliberate holes in them, and found this Roman tile, which must have once been pegged to a wooden house. I was taught this during a guided mud lark session on the Thames. A deliberate hole denotes a different use of life to an object, floor tile to roof tile, nut to home, disc to wheel.
