Footring of yellow glazed ceramic vessel

In pottery terms, the rim at the base is the foot, the sides the belly, the curve inward the shoulders, the thin bit the neck, the opening the mouth, the rim, and the lip. I suspect that is why they are so satisfying to make, and to collect, even when they don’t have a use in your home. They mimic us, reflecting us, so pleasing. This one looks like it might have been a nice sturdy teapot – the glaze crazed from repeated heating and cooling.
